maybe because i am a leo...?

i don't know if you've noticed but there's a heavy duty cat theme running around in my designs. here's a cuff i just finished last night - it's hot pink and black with one of my favorite slogans 'hang in there baby!' printed on it.

the history of valentines day.....

every february, across the country, candy, flowers, and gifts are exchanged between loved ones, all in the name of st. valentine. but who is this mysterious saint and why do we celebrate this holiday?

one legend contends that valentine was a priest who served during the third century in rome. when emperor claudius II decided that single men made better soldiers than those with wives and families, he outlawed marriage for young men -- his crop of potential soldiers. valentine, realizing the injustice of the decree, defied claudius and continued to perform marriages for young lovers in secret. when valentine's actions were discovered, claudius ordered that he be put to death. while in prison, it is believed that valentine fell in love with a young girl -- who may have been his jailor's daughter -- who visited him during his confinement. before his death, it is alleged that he wrote her a letter, which he signed 'from your valentine,' an expression that is still in use today.

and thus, the creation of this bracelet....a little sweet candy, maybe some heartbreak, and for the o.g. valentine....death

everyone needs a guardian angel

here's my bad-ass guardian angel pitbull. inspired of course by my love of this breed. they are wonderful dogs that have been cursed. i've gotten a lot of great comments on this piece and maybe i'll turn it into a line of different pieces.

my dog charlie

here's a pendant i did of my dog charlie after i adopted him. he was found abandoned by the side of the road w/ a broken leg and ripped ear. he spent about a month in the humane society clinic but then got kennel cough so i volunteered to foster him till he got better and could be adopted. well, i fell in love and now he's a permanent member of our family which includes two other dogs (pit bull and a beagle) and two cats.

the movie 'JUNO' gave me a great idea!

i just saw the movie juno......so adorably unconventional. and, i love the movie poster......i think it's a great concept idea for maternity wear don't you?!!! you know t-shirts that say, "due this holiday season" or you can change it to "due out this summer" etc....the 'HELLO' sticker can read BABY or whatever.

my eyes have been opened to a bigger and brighter world!

pheartsb! jewelry and other loved objects

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
okay, so for my new year resolution i've decided to start a blog about my pheartsb! line of jewelry etc...

i've been working a lot with recycled plastic and shrinky dink plastic. i'm also experimenting with different organic designs as well as overlaying my own drawings, clip art, patterns, etc....(i love photoshop!) i can't really pinpoint what inspires me because it changes all the time but i will do my best to document it here.

here is a necklace i just made of my fish 'goldie' ....he makes a lot of bubbles!
